Ayurvedic/Indian Head and Face Massage

This daylong workshop will begin by covering some basic theory and principles behind the techniques of Ayurveda. In this approach, the head is the most important part of the body because it is the seat of the nervous system where wind accumulates. Warm medicated oil is applied to the scalp in addition to marma chikitsa [pressing on subtle energy points]. Marma points are door receptors under the surface of the skin where muscle, veins, ligaments, bones and joints meet together. Marma means secret hidden vital energy. When lightly touched, these marma points stimulate respective organs calming the nervous system and pacifying the mind, leaving one with a feeling of deep peace within.
